En 1963, Jack Kirby volvió a dibujar las aventuras de Thor tras una ausencia del título que había ayudado a crear junto a Stan Lee. El Rey de los Cómics regresaba para hacer historia con mayúsculas. Stan Lee recuperó el interés hacia un personaje cuya mitología se dispuso entonces a explorar a fondo. Comenzaba un largo ciclo en el que Thor persigue el amor de la enfermera Jane Foster, mientras se enfrenta a amenazas terráqueas y asgardianas y, sobre todo, a las rocambolescas conspiraciones de su hermanastro Loki. Una etapa dorada en la que se contempla número a número la evolución de Jack Kirby hasta la magnificencia por la que sería mundialmente conocido.
